Based on recommendations from the CDC, MS State Department of Health and others, we are delaying non-urgent appointments that physically take place at the clinic. With recent policy changes we are now allowed to “see” you by phone or video and we encourage you to keep your visits! This is recommended not only so we can discuss your chronic conditions or acute illnesses, but also to discuss your concerns and our recommendations regarding Coronavirus. A video visit is strongly preferred, but phone calls are acceptable in certain situations. In clinic visits ARE still available, whether they are in the building or outside.

When you schedule a telehealth appointment please let us know which platform (listed below) you prefer to use. Near the time of your appointment the nurse will call you to confirm your preferred video platform, confirm your medications and obtain your history. The doctor will contact you shortly after this. We are making every effort to stick to our schedule, but please be patient as this is a work in progress. If you have an appointment for the day, we will keep it on that day unless you need it to be rescheduled. In the event that the internet signal is not strong enough, we may have to convert the visit to a phone only.

Options for video appointments require a smartphone, tablet or computer with a good internet connection:

Regarding coverage of these services by your insurance company:

On March 16, 2020 the Mississippi State Insurance Commissioner signed into effect procedures to remove certain limitations on telemedicine in Mississippi due to the state of emergency declared by Governor Reeves. As a result, the following limitations applicable to telemedicine services are hereby suspended until April 30, 2020: 1. Any limitation on the use of audio-only telephonic consultations; 2. Any requirement by a health insurance or employee benefit plan that limits coverage to health care providers in the plan's telemedicine network. It is indended by the Commissioner that mental health services provided by telemedicine consultation be covered to the same extent that the services would be covered if they were provided through in-person consultation; 3. Any requirement by a health insurance or employee benefit plan that limits coverage to provider consultations only. It is indeded by the Commissioner that telemedicine consultations between a patient and a provider be covered, and that they be covered to the same extent that the services would be covered if they were provided through in-person consultation. The Commissioner directs insurers to comply with the provisions of this Bulletin immediately and continue thereafter through April 30, 2020, at which time the Commissioner will reassess the situation.
